20,000 canceled flights in Europe today because of the volcanic cloud.
Brussels, April 18 .- Nearly 20,000 flights will be canceled today in Europe by the end of "most" of European airspace by the ash cloud from an Icelandic volcano, reported the European Agency for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol).
The European authority indicated that the approximately 24,000 flights scheduled for today (the figure is usual for a Sunday), may only, aika gold, operate 4,000, indicated in a statement.
Currently, "no services are provided air traffic control to civilian flights on most of the European airspace," said Eurocontrol as a function of the data which was available at 1030 GMT.
According to the agency, European countries and areas that are totally or partially closed their airspace are Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland,, ffxiv gil, most of France, Hungary, Ireland, Northern Italy Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia, northern Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Ukraine and the United Kingdom.
In some of these areas, the "upper airspace" may be used, depending on the weather forecasts and whether the area has been contaminated with ash, is added in the note.
However, Eurocontrol says that "it is difficult to, cheap darkfall gold, access this air space, since in most cases the surrounding areas are not open to flights."
With regard to southern Europe, notes that part of Spain, Portugal, the southern Balkans, southern Italy, Greece and Turkey maintain their open skies, which are operating flights.
The agency asserted that, by the end of the day, will be more than 63,000 canceled flights in European airspace since last Thursday, when the cloud began to spread from the southern volcanic Iceland.
Statistical figures provided by Euroconrol flights operated on the same day the previous week: – Thursday, April 15: 20 842 flights in comparison with the previous Thursday operated 28 578 (27.1 percent) – Friday April 16: flights operated 11 659 28 597 compared to the previous Friday (59.2 percent) – Saturday April 17: 4,886 flights compared with 22 653 the previous Saturday (78.4 percent) – Sunday April 18 : it expects to operate 4,000 flights compared with 24 965 made the previous Sunday (about 84 percent less).
